Budgam, April 22:In a commendable effort to promote health, hygiene, and women’s empowerment, the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation (RNAF) organized a Sanitary Distribution Drive at Kakan Maran area of central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Tuesday.
The initiative focused on raising menstrual hygiene awareness and providing essential sanitary products to women in this far-flung area. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 200 women belonging to the local community.
During the drive, free sanitary kits were distributed among the attendees. More than just a distribution event, RNAF facilitated an informative session that highlighted the significance of menstrual hygiene, safe practices, and the importance of breaking the social stigma surrounding menstruation. The session was both interactive and enlightening, enabling women to ask questions and clear myths associated with their menstrual health.
Speaking about the initiative, Rouble Nagi, said, “Awareness is the first step toward empowerment. By educating women about menstrual hygiene, we are not only protecting their health but also encouraging open conversations and boosting dignity and confidence.”
The initiative was well-received by the participants, many of whom expressed that this was the first time they had received such awareness and support regarding menstrual hygiene. One of the attendees, Ufaq Zehra, shared, “This is a far-flung area where women have limited awareness about menstrual hygiene. The event organized by the Rouble Nagi Art Foundation helped us and spread awareness.”
The women of the area expressed their heartfelt gratitude to RNAF for organizing such a thoughtful and impactful initiative. They appreciated the Foundation’s dedication to raising awareness and distributing much-needed sanitary kits, which addressed a significant gap in basic health access for women. Many attendees stated that this event marked the first time they had received sanitary products and reliable information about menstrual health.
Responding to the positive feedback and visible need, Rouble Nagi personally assured the local women that a skill development center would soon be established in the area. The center will aim to provide vocational training and livelihood opportunities for women, thereby furthering the Foundation’s mission to empower women through education and skill-building.
The drive marks another significant milestone for RNAF in its commitment to grassroots social change. The Foundation reiterated its plans to continue similar initiatives across underserved regions, ensuring that menstrual health and women’s welfare remain priorities in their outreach programs.
