_LG Sinha Calls for Skill-Driven Education Reform, J&K Universities Must Lead Innovation and Sustainability Drive_

Jammu, Dec 27,NSR:- Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha addressed the 11th Convocation Ceremony of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, emphasizing the urgent need for a paradigm shift from traditional rote learning to modern, skill-based education. Addressing students, faculty, and dignitaries, Sinha stressed that reducing curriculum load and fostering adaptable skills are crucial to meeting evolving job demands.

"Even if a single student remains unemployed or fails to start their own venture, it reflects a gap in the institution’s efforts,” Sinha said, urging educators to prioritize experiential learning and industry partnerships. He called on students to innovate, explore new avenues, and contribute to national prosperity, highlighting that India’s development hinges on its "knowledge economy”.

The LG outlined five key strategies to align with 21st-century needs: integrating AI in education, focusing on lifelong learning, strengthening industry ties, emphasizing humanities’ role in an AI-driven world, and driving research for local solutions. He also advocated for sustainable infrastructure and early-warning systems for natural disasters.

In a nod to local culture, Sinha directed the university to revamp Dogri and Vedic studies and expedite an indoor stadium project. The event saw the inauguration of an AI lab and married scholars’ accommodation. Over 820 degrees were awarded, with medals for 25 toppers.

Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board’s contributions to relief efforts and cultural preservation were lauded, including ₹22 crore procurement from local groups. Plans for a Shankaracharya Temple and International Goddess Museum in Katra were announced. A proud moment for the university, marking strides in education and community uplift.
