Modi Government Approves ₹1,677 Crore Expansion of Srinagar Airport’s Civil Enclave

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA), chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the development of a new Civil Enclave at Srinagar International Airport at an estimated cost of ₹1,677 crore. This project aims to strengthen aviation infrastructure and connectivity in Jammu & Kashmir.

The new Civil Enclave will feature a state-of-the-art terminal building spanning 71,500 square meters, designed to handle 2,900 passengers during peak hours and an annual capacity of 10 million passengers per annum. The project includes an enlarged apron capable of accommodating 15 aircraft parking bays, including one wide-body aircraft, and a multi-level car parking facility for 1,000 vehicles .

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi, stating that the project will upgrade the Valley’s economic future and transform Srinagar into a thriving destination. The development is expected to boost tourism, generate employment opportunities, and stimulate investments in the region.
