Lieutenant Governor Inaugurates Revamped Amira Kadal Bridge, Transforming Srinagar’s Heritage Landmark

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the revamped Amira Kadal pedestrian bridge in Srinagar, transforming it into a vibrant public space. This historic bridge, one of the oldest in Srinagar, now connects Lal Chowk to adjoining markets, promoting heritage aesthetics and enhancing public movement along the Jhelum riverfront.
The bridge features smart lighting, seating areas, and improved pathways, making it a key landmark and recreational space for pedestrians. Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg emphasized that the bridge will boost trade, tourism, and economic activity in the area.
The project, part of the Srinagar Smart City initiative, aimed to preserve the bridge’s heritage value while adapting it for contemporary urban use. The revamped Amira Kadal bridge is expected to significantly enhance pedestrian connectivity and walkability in Srinagar, offering residents and tourists a safer and more accessible route.
