Advocate Mohammad Shafi Reshi’s decision to distance himself from separatist ideologies marks a significant development. He is not alone; several other separatist leaders are following the same path and renouncing their ties with such groups. This shift is noteworthy as it indicates a growing disillusionment with separatist ideologies.

Shafi’s statement highlights his commitment to upholding democratic values and rejecting extremist ideologies. By publicly disavowing separatism, he joins a growing list of leaders who have chosen to prioritize national unity and democratic principles.

Yet another separatist leader, Ghulam Nabi War, Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-i-Istiqaamat, a well-known face in the separatist camp, has distanced both his party and himself from any association with APHC (G) or APHC (M) or any other ideology that works against India’s interests.

Mr. War reaffirmed his conviction to sever ties with APHC (G) and APHC (M), stating that they have lost their ground and failed to meet the expectations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He added, "They failed at every step to represent the people’s aspirations and sentiments. I severed my ties with separatist ideology long ago, and today, I officially announce my disassociation from it.”

Mr. War made it clear that "neither my name nor the name of my organization shall be used by any person or group associated with ideologies that work against the idea of India, as I fully pledge my allegiance to the Constitution of India.” He further warned, "Any person or organization attempting to misuse my name or my party’s name for such purposes will face legal consequences under the law of the land.”

Ghulam Nabi War emphasized that "henceforth, neither my personal name nor that of my organization should be linked to any faction of the Hurriyat. Any such attempt may attract severe legal consequences.”

Meanwhile, Ghulam Nabi Sofi, Chairman of Jammu and Kashmir Tehreek-i-Istiqlal, has also disassociated himself and his party from APHC (G), APHC (M), and any other group advocating separatist ideologies.

In his statement to the press, Mr. Sofi made it clear: "We continued our struggle despite all odds, but neither APHC (G) nor APHC (M) has been able to meet the expectations of the common masses. They have failed at every step to represent the people’s aspirations and sentiments. I severed my ties with separatist ideology long ago, and today, I officially renounce it.”

Mr. Sofi, a known separatist figure, also stated, "From now on, neither my name nor that of my organization should be associated with any faction of the Hurriyat. Any such attempt will result in severe legal consequences.”

Additionally, Ghulam Nabi Sofi declared, "I am a true and committed citizen of India and firmly believe in the Indian Constitution. I have never been involved in any act detrimental to India’s interests, nor do I or my organization intend to associate with any group or forum working against India in the future.”

The departure of these leaders from separatist organizations and ideologies marks a significant setback to the four-decade-long separatist movement in Kashmir. Their decisions highlight the complexities and challenges of such movements. The growing number of separatist leaders distancing themselves from these ideologies reflects an increasing recognition of the need for inclusive, democratic solutions that prioritize national unity and stability.
