*”India-US Ties: Not Defined by Pakistan, Says EAM
'*Jaishankar; Calls for Global Unity Against Terror"*
Washington,July3,Agencies :
External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar has emphasized that India’s growing relationship with the United States is based on mutual interests and benefits, rather than being influenced by third countries like Pakistan. Speaking at a press conference in Washington, Jaishankar rejected the notion that India’s relations with the US are defined by Pakistan, highlighting the significance of trade, investment, technology, energy, and mobility in the bilateral relationship.
Jaishankar’s statement comes amidst India’s efforts to strengthen its ties with the US, while also addressing concerns around terrorism and security. He attended a quad ministerial meeting with US Secretary of State and foreign ministers of Australia and Japan, where they collectively condemned the Pahalgam massacre carried out by a Pakistan-based terrorist group.
The External Affairs Minister also held bilateral talks with US Secretary of Defense and Secretary of Energy, focusing on key areas of defense, trade, and energy cooperation. Jaishankar stressed the need for greater international solidarity and action against terrorism, and urged countries to stand together against this global threat.
In a strong message, Jaishankar criticized Western countries for their perceived inconsistency in supporting India’s stance on terrorism, and advocated for a more unified global response. He emphasized that India has consistently maintained a principled approach to terrorism, and called on other countries to do the same.
Jaishankar’s visit to the US highlights the growing importance of the India-US relationship, and the shared interests that drive it. As the two countries continue to work together on issues like defense, trade, and energy, it’s clear that their partnership is built on mutual benefits and a shared commitment to peace and security.
