Seven Health Officials Penalized Over Dog Incident at SDH Chadoora

Srinagar, Mar 21, CNS: Authorities have taken strict action against seven healthcare employees, including two doctors, after a viral video showed a dog inside the Emergency Trauma Room of Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Chadoora in Budgam. A disciplinary inquiry found gross negligence, leading to immediate penalties.

Three Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) members—Ansar Sheikh, Mushtaq Ahmad Rather, and Abdul Gani Waza—were suspended and attached to the Directorate of Health Services Kashmir (DHSK). Two doctors, Dr. Mubashir Amin and Dr. Aqeel Afzal, were also held accountable and attached to DHSK. Additionally, pharmacist Zahoor Ahmad and sanitary inspector Mushtaq Ahmad faced disciplinary action.

The inquiry revealed serious administrative lapses, including poor hygiene, lack of CCTV monitoring, and failure to maintain an attendance register. The Block Medical Officer (BMO) has been directed to submit an explanation and take corrective measures to improve hospital management. (CNS)
