Srinagar, March 27 (NSR): Authorities have informed the Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid that Srinagar’s historic Jamia Masjid will remain closed on the revered night of Laylatul Qadr, preventing devotees from offering night-long prayers and supplications.

Expressing deep anguish over the decision, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq took to social media to denounce the move. “On the highly revered night of Laylatul Qadr, when Muslims around the world supplicate and seek Allah’s forgiveness throughout the holy and blessed night, the central Jamia Masjid Srinagar will be closed to the people, and no shab or prayers will be allowed there,” he stated.

He termed the decision as “extremely regrettable,” adding that the move will deprive thousands of worshippers, who have traditionally gathered at the grand mosque on this occasion, of their spiritual connection.
The closure of Jamia Masjid on significant religious occasions has been a recurring issue
