Udhampur, Mar 2 : Amid an ongoing counter-militancy operation in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district, a senior Army officer visited Udhampur to assess the security situation, officials said.
Lieutenant General Navin Sachdeva, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Jammu-based White Knight Corps, visited Basantgarh, a strategic area previously used by infiltrating militants to move from Kathua to the Chenab Valley. He was accompanied by Major General APS Bal, GOC of the Counter Insurgency Force-Delta (CIF-D).
During the visit, Lieutenant General Sachdeva reviewed security measures and commended the troops for their dedication in counter-militancy operations.
"The GOC appreciated the troops for their unwavering commitment in tackling the threat,” the White Knight Corps stated on microblogging site X.
The visit coincides with an intensified search operation in Kathua, where four policemen and two Pakistani militants were killed in a fierce gunfight on Thursday. Security forces have expanded their search to new areas following the recovery of the fourth policeman’s body and the two slain militants from a dense forest in Kathua. (CNS)
