Violence Has No Place in Civilized Society:, Ghulam Hassan Mir Pays Tribute to Mirwaiz Farooq on Martyrdom Anniversary

Srinagar, May 21: Former Cabinet Minister and Senior Vice President of the Apni Party, Ghulam Hassan Mir, paid heartfelt homage to the late Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone and Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq on the anniversary of their martyrdom, calling their loss a lasting wound in the socio-political memory of Jammu and Kashmir.

In a solemn message, Mir stated, “On this solemn day, we remember the supreme sacrifices of Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone Sahib and Mirwaiz Molvi Mohammad Farooq Sahib, who fell to militancy on this date. Their loss remains a deep wound in our collective memory, and their contributions to the socio-political landscape of Jammu and Kashmir shall never be forgotten.”

Mir used the occasion to emphasize the importance of abandoning violence and embracing dialogue, mutual respect, and democratic values. “Violence has no place in a civilized society,” he asserted, underlining the need for peaceful means to address the legitimate aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.

Reiterating the Apni Party’s ideological stance, Mir said the party remains committed to peace, reconciliation, and inclusive development—a vision shared by both the slain leaders.
