JKBOSE Restores Old Academic Calendar, Annual Exams in Kashmir, Winter Zones to Be Held in Oct–Nov; Summer Zone Exams in Mar–Apr
Srinagar, May 21: The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (JKBOSE) has formally announced the reinstatement of the previous academic calendar for the Union Territories of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh, effective from the current year, 2025.
According to an official notification issued by the Board, the decision follows government directives and aims to align academic schedules with the distinct climatic conditions of different regions. As per the revised schedule, the academic session for Kashmir Division, winter zone areas of Jammu Division, and the Union Territory of Ladakh will now be treated as 2024–25. Accordingly, the Annual Regular Examinations for classes 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th in these areas will be held in October–November 2025.
In contrast, for the summer zone of Jammu Division, the academic session will follow a 2025–26 timeline, with Annual Regular Examinations for classes 9th to 12th to be conducted in March–April 2026.
This move effectively revokes the earlier unified calendar introduced under Notification No. F.(Acad-C)/B/A.C/22 dated September 22, 2022. The latest directive is issued in line with Government Order No. 468-JK (Edu) of 2024 dated November 6, 2024.
JKBOSE has advised all stakeholders—including school administrations, students, teachers, and education officers—to strictly adhere to the revised academic calendar.
