Muharram-ul-Haram Preparations in Full Swing

Srinagar, June 12, NSR: In preparation for the forthcoming Muharram-ul-Haram, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, chaired a crucial meeting to review the arrangements for the smooth and peaceful observance of the religious occasion. The meeting was attended by senior officials, including DIG Police Rajiv Pandey, Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and representatives of various Shia community associations.

During the meeting, Div Com Bidhuri emphasized the importance of ensuring that all necessary arrangements are in place to facilitate the mourners and maintain law and order during the Muharram days. He directed the concerned departments to work in tandem to ensure a hassle-free experience for the devotees.

*Road Repairs and Infrastructure*

Div Com Bidhuri instructed the concerned authorities to repair and macadamize the roads in Shia-dominated areas to ensure pothole-free routes for the mourners’ procession. This move aims to facilitate the smooth movement of processions and prevent any inconvenience to the devotees.

*Uninterrupted Services*

The Div Com directed the civil departments, including the Public Health Engineering (PHE) and Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (JKPDC), to ensure the delivery of uninterrupted services during the Muharram days. This includes the provision of adequate water supply, electricity, and other essential services.

*Water and Ration Arrangements*

Div Com Bidhuri instructed the deployment of water tankers to supplement the demand for drinking water in areas inhabited by the Shia community. He also directed the concerned authorities to provide adequate quantities of firewood and ensure the distribution of sufficient ration to the community.

*Sanitation and Medical Arrangements*

The Div Com emphasized the importance of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene around Imam Baras and procession sites. He directed the concerned authorities to launch special sanitation drives to ensure that the areas are clean and free of garbage. Additionally, he instructed the health department to deploy medical teams along with ambulances to provide proper medical assistance to the mourners.

*Security Arrangements*

Div Com Bidhuri stressed the need for fool-proof security arrangements to ensure the safety of the devotees during the Muharram processions. He directed the police department to make proper route plans for smooth vehicular movement and to deploy adequate security personnel to maintain law and order.

The meeting concluded with a commitment from all departments to work together to ensure that the Muharram-ul-Haram processions are held smoothly and peacefully. The Div Com urged all concerned to put in place all necessary arrangements well in advance to facilitate the mourners and maintain law and order during the occasion.
