The Union Government has announced a significant initiative to provide permanent homes to approximately 5 lakh homeless individuals in Jammu and Kashmir. According to Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, a survey has been conducted to identify beneficiaries, and verification is currently underway to ensure accuracy. Once the verification process is completed, housing allotment will begin.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader efforts to improve the lives of citizens in Jammu and Kashmir. In addition to providing permanent housing, the government is also working to boost the rural economy through various schemes.
The government is strengthening employment schemes like MGNREGA to provide more opportunities for rural employment. Efforts are also ongoing to link more farmers to the Kisan Credit Card scheme, providing them with easier access to credit and financial support.
Furthermore, the ‘Lakhpati Didi’ scheme under the National Rural Livelihood Mission (NRLM) aims to boost rural women’s income to over ₹1 lakh annually. A new category, "Millennial Didi,” has been introduced for women earning ₹10 lakh per year.
The government’s initiatives are expected to have a positive impact on the lives of citizens in Jammu and Kashmir. By providing permanent homes and promoting economic growth, the government is working to improve the overall well-being of its citizens.
