Srinagar, Mar 21, NSR: The famed Tulip Garden in Srinagar is set to welcome visitors from March 26, marking the beginning of the tourism season in Kashmir. Established in 2007 to extend the region’s tourist calendar beyond summer and winter, the garden has since become a major attraction.

Formerly known as Siraj Bagh, the garden is currently witnessing the blooming of tulips in a variety of colors. The floriculture department has planted the bulbs in phases to ensure an extended flowering period.

This year, two new tulip varieties have been introduced, bringing the total to 74. Other spring flowers such as hyacinths, daffodils, muscari, and cyclamens will also be on display. Spread across 55 hectares, the garden boasts about 1.7 million tulip bulbs.

Last year, the garden attracted a record 4.65 lakh visitors, surpassing the 3.65 lakh footfall recorded in 2023.

Authorities are making final preparations to ensure a smooth opening and an enhanced experience for tourists.
